Description: The WRS Level I Certification prepares teachers to effectively implement WRS Steps 1-6 (4th Edition) with students reading and spelling below grade level and those diagnosed with a language-based learning disability. Participants will demonstrate mastery of the Wilson Reading System lesson plan, including multi-sensory techniques and effective strategies in a 1:1 setting. This course offers 270 CEU credit hours for PA Act 48 following program completion

Prerequisites:
WRS Introductory Course (completed within the last five years).
Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.


Course Format: Hybrid - participants can join in-person at DCIU Marple Education Center, or remotely. A combination of virtual meetings, asynchronous instruction, and in-person instruction (1 meeting) and observations

Requirements:
Complete a comprehensive online course: WRS Intensive Instruction for the Non-Responsive Reader (Steps 1-6).

Conduct 1:1 WRS instruction with a practicum student for a minimum of 65 lessons with a lesson plan written for each lesson. The student must meet selection criteria and be approved by the assigned Wilson® Credentialed Trainer.

Be observed five times teaching the practicum student. Each observation is scheduled with the Wilson® Credentialed Trainer and lasts approximately 60-75 minutes.

Complete Pre and Post testing & Teacher Binder of Resources

Description: This practicum completes one of four requirements to earn Wilson Level II Certification. This completes the small group practicum portion working with an appropriate group of students starting level 1. All participants must have completed the Wilson Level I certification, have completed the Wilson Advanced Strategies three-day course, and be eligible for the Wilson Level II Certification process. This Act 45 course invites district leadership teams to harness the power of effective coaching to cultivate learning environments that prioritize innovation,collaboration,and deep thinking. We explore evidence-based coaching practices designed to establish strong foundations,adaptive frameworks that support both educator development and student achievement. Drawing on the latest research in educational leadership and coaching, this course will guide participants through a systematic approach to designing, refining, and implementing coaching models that align with district goals and evidence-based practice.

Big Ideas:

Strategic Design of Coaching Models: Understand how to strategically plan and structure coaching models that align with the district's vision for coaching, fostering teacher efficacy and improved student outcomes.

Reflective Practice and Needs Assessment: Will learn to conduct a comprehensive coaching needs assessment, reflecting on current practices and identifying opportunities for growth.

Alignment and Implementation: Will emphasize aligning coaching roles with district's mission and vision for coaching, ensuring coaching practices are fully integrated and impactful.

Description: PDE COURSE NUMBER 20120306. With more and more students being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders, it is important for educators to explore their perceptions and expand their knowledge base of this disability category in order to meet these students' needs. This course takes an inside look into what it is like to live with Autism. We will see and hear first hand accounts from people living with the disorder. Their inspirational and informative stories have motivated participants in the past to examine and reexamine how they work with students on the spectrum of autism. We will explore methods of motivation and classroom management in settings with learners with Autism. Given the information provided throughout the course, participants will also have the opportunity to more completely understand the many services that students with autism can benefit from and how educators can apply this learned information in their area of focus and provide effective instruction to students with mild to severe Autism.
