1. New to Special Education: So Much to Learn!

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

This basic training is developed with new special education professionals in mind and focuses on the areas of most common noncompliance including, but not limited to, discipline, IEP development and evaluations/reevaluations. Provides hands-on training using the model forms, the Standards and Indicators Manual and the State Plan for Special Education. (This does not meet the credentialing requirements for Beginning Teacher Assistance Program) Day 1 will include an overview of the special education processes and timelines, where to find vital information/resources on the DESE website to assist you, Quality IEP training including SMART goals and Standards Based goals, Specially Designed Instruction, and some High Leverage Practices. These two days will just give you some background knowledge to hopefully help you understand what your director and/or process coordinator are talking about when you are working with them. This is a TWO day training and you MUST attend BOTH days! We will meet in the Meyer Alumni Center on August 2nd and Park Central Office Building in Room #235 on August 7th. The cost is $80 and includes parking, breakfast, and lunch for BOTH days. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 as you sign-in and get settled - training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 PM. If you are a long term substitute in special education, you can register for EITHER this training or the long term substitute training on 9/16 - you don't need to register for both trainings.

2. Paraprofessional Training for ECSE and Elementary

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Audience: Early Childhood Special Education and Elementary Paraprofessionals

Dates: 8/12/2024

The purpose of this paraprofessional training is to define major responsibilities of a paraprofessional in the educational setting, confidentiality, communication, teamwork, behavior management, and ways to prompt students, etc. We will review the special education process in order to develop a basic understanding of the process and how students are found eligibile and discuss how to best support the students with whom paraprofessionals work. This training will emphasis ECSE and Elementary paraprofessionals work. The cost is $40 and includes parking, breakfast, and lunch. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 as you sign-in and get settled- training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 P.M.

3. MAP-A Training

Audience: MAP-A Teachers, DLM Coordinators

MAP-A-professional learning builds participant knowledge in the process of completing the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) for our students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Teachers learn to utilize the process and components of this assessment, including the use of the educator portal, to embed the essential elements from the DLM into daily instructional opportunities for students. This process builds student knowledge and capacity to demonstrate growth on the summative version of the MAP-A.

4. I am the Process Coordinator! Now What?

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Park Central Office Building (ROOM 112) (Springfield, MO)

Dates: 9/3/2024 to 2/25/2025

Join us on September 3rd and February 25th as we discuss how process coordinators can best support special education teachers. We will discuss organization for the PC and how they can organize their teachers, talk about process items such as referrals, REDs, assessments, interpretation of assessments, eligibility, and IEPs. Cost is $60 and includes two days of training with lunch and parking provided. This is a two day commitment so please make sure you are available both of these dates when you sign up. We will meet in the Park Central Office Building in Room #112. Training on September 3rd will be in the Meyer Alumni Center at 300 S Jefferson.

6. Early Childhood Special Education Training

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Park Central Office Building (ROOM 112) (Springfield, MO)

Audience: ECSE teachers, Paraprofessionals, Process Coordinators

Dates: 9/13/2024

The local ECSE program is responsible for locating, evaluating, and, if the child qualifies, providing special education and related services for children ages 3-5 in the state of Missouri. Now that you have identified your students, how do you set up your programs? We will review ways to serve ECSE students, ways to implement specially designed instruction. We will cover Early Childhood Outcomes and how to complete the ratings. The training will include examples of activities and how to make them and use in your classroom. Each participant will have the opportunity to make 2-3 activities. The cost is $50 and includes parking, breakfast, lunch, and supplies for take-home activities. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 as you sign-in and get settled- training will begin promptly at 9:00. 7. Experience an Educational Benefit Review (EBR) with Your Team

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Have you heard about EBR but want to know more before you decide to have an EBR in your district? This day is designed with you in mind! Bring a team of 4-6 individuals and participate in the EBR process as Amy and Melynda guide you through the steps using a file you bring with you from your district. If you are curious about an EBR, take advantage of this opportunity! The training will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM. The cost will be $30 and includes lunch. Important Note: You will make sure each member of your team registers in Frontline due to space. You will be expected to bring a student file with you - making sure there is a complete copy for each of your team members. The file must be a student who has three IEPs with an evaluation report (so it will be a student who is due for a reeval soon). You will make sure your team members each have a copy of the evaluation report, each of the three consecutive IEPs, and the reporting progress page sent to parents for each IEP.

8. Standards-based IEPS linked to DLM Essential Elements

Do you teach students who take the Alternative Assessment or MAP-A? This session will help you understand what Dynamic Learning MAP is; what Essential Elements are and how the linkage level progression works for Unique Educational Needs. Use the Unique Educational NEeds of the students to develop SMART goals. We will meet on November 6th in Room 112 at the Park Central Office Building. Directions for parking will be sent to registered participants prior to training. The cost for the training is $40, which includes parking, breakfast, and lunch. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 as up sign-in and get settled- training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 PM.

9. How to Collect Data and Progress Monitor to Drive Instruction

10. Transition Academy: Prepping Students for Life

How do I prepare my student(s) to transition to the next phase of life? Participants will learn to use valuable resources to support students in the college or career readiness planning process for their future. The Transition Academy is designed to help educators plan for college and career readiness and positive postsecondary outcomes for students with an lEP. The components to be addressed during the academy are lndicator 13, the transition compliance portion of the student's lEP, how to plan for post-secondary outcomes and the framework and practice of how to include self-determination strategies and skills during instruction. Specific components provided in greater detail will be Transition Assessments and Services and to teach students to participate in the planning process of their future. The cost is $80 and includes parking, breakfast, and lunch for BOTH days. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 as you sign-in and get settled- training will begin promptly at 9:00. Working lunch will be served around 11:30 or 12:00 and you will be done by 3:00 P.M. Day 1 will be at Park Central Office Building Room #112 Day 2 will be at the Meyer Alumni Center (300 S.
