Transitions are made easier when families and providers understand the process. This two part workshop is designed to provide participants with the information they need so they have a better understanding of the committee on special education process.
Part 1: The first part of this interactive workshop will provide information to help participants understand the transition process, be an active member of the transition team, understand the difference between services within the committee on preschool special education (CPSE) process and the committee on special education (CSE) process, and understand the purpose of an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Parents will come away from this workshop with a better understanding of what to expect as their children move on to kindergarten.
Part 2: The second part of this workshop will focus on providing participants with an understanding of the evidence that supports students with disabilities being educated in a setting with non-disabled students. Information will be provided regarding the continuum of services at the school age level and how specially designed instruction and supplementary services can be provided within the settings across the continuum (i.e., related services, consultant teacher services, resource room programs, integrated co-teaching services, special classes, separate settings, etc.).
