The skills we use to learn, work, and manage life, or our executive function (EF) skills, are governed by our brain and therefore are never fixed. When our students struggle with EF skills, it can make it hard for them to focus, follow directions, handle their emotions, organize themselves, and stay on task; the good news is that we can support our students' brain development through the use of EF tools and strategies. In this introductory workshop, educators will learn: ● background information about how different parts of the brain control different aspects of executive function ● 10 skills that fall into the 3 main areas of executive function - working memory, cognitive flexibility, and self-control ● tools and strategies that develop student executive function skills The workshop format allows for independent learning and application to the classroom in between each session.
